I’ve created the logo following these guidelines. It portrays a youthful but still serious impression.

Image:
You can see an “S” for Spreadshirt in the form (it looks like it’s been printed on a shirt). The “S” also makes up a sleeve and lower part of a shirt. The black form, left of the right, shows the rest of the t-shirt (right sleeve). On the left side, the shirt breaks from the frame, which shows that Spreadshirt is boundary-breaking. Since Spreadshirt users don’t go to get the same shirt than anyone can have, rather create their own that (if they want) no one else has or wears.

The image is applicable in a variety of scenarios. Whether as a 4-colour logo on the website or in other print production, as 1-colour for embroidery or relief (e.g. appliqués).

Text:
For the text I chose “Futura1 Book Bold”. The letter “R” is balanced to the left. This shows the individuality as well as the balancing act that Spreadshirt embodies, giving customers broad artistic freedom while maintaining a high quality level.

Slogan:
To show Spreadshirt’s unique individualising potentials, I thought of the slogan “stick out of the crowd”. Spreadshirt’s services allow users to get an incomparable, stylish individuality, shown through the slogan.

The slogan is written in “High Tower Text Italic”. I chose this font to show the flexibity and relaxed atmosphere of the Spreadshirt team. In addition, there is an artistic aspect, that every customer has personal access to.

Typography:
For general text, the Futura font can be used in a variety font styles. For longer text, “Book” and “Light” are applicable. For headings and announcements, “Book Bold” and “Book Bold Oblique”.

The typefont for the slogan in “High Tower Text Italic” can be used for promotion products (flyers, presentations, etc.) as well as on the website and in newsletters for headers and short sentences.

Colours:
I chose green in pantone solid color 369. Green to symbolise fresh and serious, in contrast with the stronger black.

PS: For a more precise definition of the colours, I’d be happy to answer quickly upon request.

Your icon is really cool and i like the intersection with the frame and the peppy S and the whell choosen color play. I think it´s one of the best! Top! Top! Top!

The typoghrapy could be improved to get a perfect result: Avoid a mix of serif, sans-serif, bold majuscles with italic lower case letters - it´s really wild.
Choose one style family - create a variation for the under line and you will get a calmer standing with more power.

Damned, this icon is so good!

yeah, like it too .. but as a “more texting dude” i also like the claim/approach “stick out of the crowd” a lot!! maybe we should do a claim poll/competition as well ..;)

Wow, you put an awful lot of thought into this! nice! I like it, I like the green, the claim…one of the better ones, ranking high in my opinion!

On the one side I like the color combination of black, white and green! But on the other side there’re to many ideas and styles handled for a company logo!
    Although it’s a good idea!

The T-Shirt has been reproduced really stylish (sorry, I don’t see the “s” on the first view), but the Typography is really … awful, sorry. In small sizes I can’t see the claim, the fonts don’t fit together. The Futura with it’s italic font it too sporty in my opinion. The colour-combination is choosen well :). All together I think it’s not easy to communicate the whole CI with this logo. But still nice work.

    hi,

    ta for your comments.

I agree with all of you about the typo of the slogan!
The Typomix is simply awful. I was unsure about the High Tower Text just before the delivery.

I will publish a newer version (with updated typo) in the next days…

    nettrooper:
Yes, you’re right, the Typomix sucks. Thanks for your praise about the Image.

    ami:
Thanks, i think that this claim exactly tell a user what he have to expect by using Spreadshirt.

    sbu:
Thanks! I ever try to link as many ideas as possible in my logo-designs without having too much information. Keep it simple but comprehensible.

    mr:
Maybe you also speak about the Typomix if you say that there are too much styles…(do you?) But too many ideas? The logo has simple forms. So i think a user won’t see that there where introduced that much ideas. At least you like the color :-)

    getimo:
Thanks. I think there will be users who firstly see the S just as user who see the Shirt first. I think it isn’t such a great problem if the full sense of a logo-image doesn’t imparts at the first look. It’s more like a symbol which has the plus of a sense behind the forms.
I wrote above about the Typo ;-) But i can’t see why you don’t like the Futura…i don’t think that it is too sporty…what do the others say? anymore opinions?
Why do you think that this logo won’t work in a whole CI?

One more time thanks for all the comments. More opinions would be appreciated!

    Hey joe,

spreadshirt is (going to be?) an umbrella brand name. This means that it sould be very international. I made my logo in small letters to be more international. I can’t really describe why I would write it small - it comes across more young, international. The sporty aspect is coming from the known NBA, NHL Logos.

“I think it isn’t such a great problem if the full sense of a logo-image doesn’t imparts at the first look.”

Well, I agree there with you too, BUT it is always better to realize the sense without knowing any background information.

Important Note: This only my personal opinion ;)
