Sorry for any inconvience that has ocurred yesterday - it was no evil planned spamletter-campaign. It was just the forgotten mailinglist olp2007 .. and this is what happens: One sends a spam (or virus) mail to the regarding mailinglist olp2007. After this a few people complain, want to unsubscribe and respond to the sender, which is the mailinglist address olp2007. Then of course this mail is sent to all addressees again, and again some people complain and want to unsubscribe. It’s called a “mailinglist echo” and is a very oldschool web1.0 issue - the only thing you can do about it is not responding and waiting until the admins delete the mailinglist. We are very sorry for this — I still have no idea where the mailinglist address leaked but we’ve deleted the olp2007 mailaccount after we got notice (and, well, of course still around 100 mails).

But then, we also do have good news: we have a cooperation with the guys of ZEIXS! Think of an OLP for Design-Books: You submit your Shirt Design and we will print it in a book! Everyone of you who runs a Spreadshirt Shop can submit his design and it will be printed (well, if we get too many entries we have to select of course). ZEIXS already has released 4 books last year on Graphic Design, Logo, Typo, and Illustration - and is not only looking for Shirt Designs but also ie CMYK, Characters, Letterheads&Businesscards - so make sure you check the site, maybe you want to submit some of your OLP stuff, too?!

We’ve still plenty to come here (two more panel winners, more interviews, the CA feature, help us develop the two winning logos). But its winding down a little bit and i’m a little sad were breaking-up the nice party we had here. I was wondering if you’d be interested in keeping it going a little longer…..?

We have a nice open crowd, high number of comments and discussion and some really awesome designers. What if we moved the party over to la Fraise (the english part)? I’ve been talking about joining the la Fraise gang as a part-time blogger for a while now. Theres a small community of designers over there but nothing too established. I could continue as the host (alongside existing blogger Jouni) and we could start with a special collaborative design contest for you all. How does that sound?

A good recent example of what I have in mind is the Legion of Dooms great Robot Attack t-shirt containing robots from 20 different graphic designers. This was a recent winner at US based design contest Design By Humans.

Anyway you can make your feelings clear in the survey below:

Should we move the party over to la Fraise??!!

I spotted this in the office today, its for a new French marketing leaflet which hasn’t been made public yet. Either great minds think a like, or the good folks at Family are mind readers, as their entry feels like an advancement of it.

What do you think of this entry, and having circular corporate logos?

So guys. OLP1.6 is starting to take shape. We’re really keen this time that its all about discussion, not just a popularity contest. We’re thinking about whether it makes sense to allow voting on submissions this time round. What do you think?

The advantages:

- Allows non-english speakers to show their views

- Helps find the most popular designs

- Well its sort of fun

The dis-advantages:

- The score can become more important than the discussion.

- Its not so open, anyone can anonymously comment or spam their friends and get them to vote up the design. Maybe voting is a little over-used these days.

Some other voting options:
