Spreads Like Butter

Concept
A painfully simple approach. And, perhaps not the most international theme as one would prescribe. However, correct me if I’m off, but there’s probably quite a few folks around the world who truly appreciate freshly melted butter on a nice thick slice of fresh, homemade bread.
Equate this satisfaction to what the Store Owner receives when they’ve efficiently and effortlessly set up their first Spreadshirt storefront and the satisfaction of their customer receiving their freshly-minted Spreadshirt product.
Spreadshirt is a personable, flavorful, and savory company not to mention their technology and approach to online-marketing is HOT and cuts through the clutter of most ecommerce storefronts like a hot knife through butter. ;)~
Image Style & Color
In keeping with the ‘tounge-and-cheek’ aspect, the illustration style is playful. Colors used are earthy and wholesome, but by no means finalized but supports a retro palette currently. Color specifications in Pantone/CMYK/RGB (Web-safe if necessary) can be finalized and defined later should this design prove of interest.
The ‘butter shirt’ is a subtle element by design. At first glance, this may not be apparent, but after closer review will reveal the whole Spreadshirt theme tie-in. As one of the other entry authors Sidisinsane mentions, Spreadshirt offers much more than the printed shirt. Totally agree. So therefore, the hot bread on which the melting shirt resides is really the Spreadshirt mantra.
The logo can be extended into a number of applications and makes a kewl and personable independent icon with the use of the logo only.
The artwork submission shows a full-color version, a smaller, (25%-scale) version in upper-right, a grayscale, black-and-white, and reversed application is included, along with a secondary composition in lower-left and the stand alone logo in upper-center. Simple and flexible.
Font
The font used is the ultra clean and stylish Frutiger. This sans serif font family supports a wide range of weights and is a classic for easy reading. The Spreadshirt stands alone nicely as just a logotype. Curvacious, bold, and most memorable and identifiable.
Slogan
Last but not least, the slogan. Expounding from ‘You Think It. We Print It.’ I thought it would be appropriate to through in a more localized reference for ’spread.’ Ever hear of the phrase, ‘Nice spread?’ Meaning, nice offering or nice presentation.
In closing, I admit I am curious to find out why you chose to front-end your company name with the word ’spread.’ Please enlighten as this may help offer focus for designers submitting through your deadline.
Thanks for extending this opportunity to the community. Businesses like yours are truly making the Web what it really should be. Simple and powerful.
All the best!

very nice entry, i like it… visually appealing & fun.
in my opinion it’s one of the greatest logos so far! visually appealling, like lak said and there should be no problems in processing!
No, I don’t like this one, I think I would feel like working in a fast food chain or sandwhich store or something.
Thx for the critiques!
To go to the extreme of sbu’s comment,a thought comes to mind looking at the logo elements to create a Flash animated build of the logo. This could be quite entertaining…
Augmented with subtle, reinforcing SoundFX, first the bread slides/pops up, falls flat. The pad o’butter drops onto it and begins to melt. A butter knife takes three quick swipes to spread the shirt, then, three quick bites get taken out, one on top, one on each side. The bread stands vertical showing the shape of a toasty-fresh T-Shirt, Cap, Underwear, etc.! ;) Could be fun.
I don’t get it… why the toast? I understand your last comment but don’t get the point really why you chose a toast!?

Why the toast? It’s a fun concept to show the ’spreading’ of a product/service across an area. It also represents and conveys a company that doesn’t take themselves too seriously. ;)
i really like the idea. a fresh and funky approach and something quite unexpected that still represents our business.
I imagine that my spreadshirt-shop has this logo on the top :(
Remind that the visitors of an ordinary shop won’t know spreadshirt. If I have a toast at the top of my page my visitors will be confused…
The idea is nice but as sbu already mentioned: “I would feel like working in a fast food chain or sandwhich store or something”

Cool colour combination. But the toast? Danger: Bred & Butter trade show in Berlin.
Is this the danger you refer to khri? http://tinyurl.com/dshl4
I REALLY like the idea. With a little simpler design this would make a great logo.
Hilarious! fun, tasty and a ONE-OF-A-KIND. so easy….its like butterin’ bread. yaa budee
Now really, if this ain’t one of the best around here:) Respect! Graet idea & cool performance:) Wish ya luck:)
