You have been wondering when we make the switch and show our new logo. Of course we would have liked to implement and put the shiny new logo on our website, instantly after the end of the OLP. However, things were different, and this may sound like an argument: It wasn’t about a “marketing stunt” - we had to take our time, since we wanted to wait until things are fine, and we are really really happy with what we developped. Which is, what we are! You will guess which draft finally made our frontpage, it is …
the LOVETAB! And I can assure you that we tested and played around with both winning concepts a lot, which means we still like Lufografs concept and maybe we will see some elements of “Playing with forms“, even if not today or tomorrow.
But now, you as participants and supporters of the OLP1.6 deserve it, take the first view on our new logo on our website … which is going to be released soon - tell us what you think!

I really like the way you’re using the logo in the “ad”, but the one on the site feels like an overkill. Too much. I’d like to see it with more whitespace. Maybe think about the colors on the page in general aswell.
Hi Ami and Kim :-)
Very very nice logo, really. Congratulations again Kim ! You can be proud :-)
I like too the logo on the ad.
On the site… not really. Why do you use it with the vertical shape ?
hi, thanks for your feedback (I’m sorry you don’t like our website version - how would you use it on the site?)
we will work with both versions - and we did a load of drafts with both versions and tested them. this was the one with the best feedback and we think with the illustrated shirt it gives a good impression what we do and is “nearer” to our product.
hey kim, hey laurent.
as ami is out of office today due to a conference in frankfurt (where he actally holds a keynote on the olp and our learnings), i will try to answer your questions (and i´m sure ami will answer as well as soon as he´s back/online)
a) why don´t you change the colors of the website to fit the logo or the other way round?
well, we didn´t want to change the color of the lovetab in order to keep its original look and feel. we also know that the blue of the site doesn´t get along with the green of the logo too well. but: it´s alright and we finally wanted to realease the logo. we can always change the rest of the site step by step now that our graphic resources don´t have to deal with the logo and its usage anymore.
b) why do we use the vertical shape? as we wanted to use the lovetab-icon alongside our brand name,we considered the vertical shape a better solution in order to 1) have both elements looked at as an unity and 2) have the look and feel of an actual label/tab.
I’m with Kim and Laurent here. You killed it on the website.
now that it’s live on the “real” site - I think it’s great and looks nice on the startpage!
hi,
one thing we wanted to keep in mind was to make it also very easy for our customers to get what the new logo is about. all you guys in the olp and we know what the new logo is about, but hinz&kunz (german phrase for “the general people out there”) don’t know it. so we thought we must give them a visual help here. you’re both right that it’s not the absolut perfect solution on the website, but in case of ressources, time and restrictions not to make a complete makeover, i think it turned out well. for me the colors also work and the vertical shape is far better, because it makes a compact logo. again good job kim and i hope you’re not too heavily pissed. ;-)
have a nice day and keep on rockin
Schimanski:
Hehe, I’m not pissed at all. It’s all up to you guys. Happy to see an answer though. I however, think that the good thing about the Lovetab is that it’s not obvious. Like the creator of the “I love NY” once said: “I think the reason why people like it is because they feel smart when they figure it out”. I get the message you want to bring forward. But in my opinion, a creative company should be more creative than informative to that point where the message makes the look&feel suffer. The page itself communicates the message pretty clear in my opinion. I can feel that this feels more like some sort of campaign than a new logotype - it’s too many elements to interpret.
But, all in all… if you keep the Graphic Profile like in that launch-ad, I’m more than proud to have my work put into it. It’s great! :)
kim, we will definitely use both versions - depending on the purpose. For example on wednesday I did a presentation (about the OLP btw.) and used the new logo with the angled seam in my templates .. it looked awesome!
And of course we will also develop it further, since we want to have a “living” corporate design.
btw. I like the “I love NY” quote a lot because it was also quite funny to see how some people would discover the shirt :)
I agree with everyone else that the startpage version does not work. In terms of a first impression, it’s not much. The playfulness of the logo is obscured by all the elements. Also the tab itself has been reduced to a very small size that it loses most of its visual impact. And like Kim said, everything about the logo is being served up for the viewer that it becomes stale and forgettable.
Compared that to the angled version in the poster, which is very effective in its visual composition and intuitiveness.
just to confirm : Logo and corporate name is very small in the webpage because of the vertical version and “your own label” hidden by default it’s not very effective for a strong visual and corporate identity .
He, it’s already on and you didn’t even tell us. Shame on you ;) But it really looks awesome. Well done to all of you!
