pascal - yeah, I do think so, too. And I hope in the end we will have a cool logo with all designers happy (and, well, one especially happy ;)) because you've all contributed to what we head for and what we are. really, no "flowerpower mood" here, but it's really amazing how much different approaches on one thing we see - and how people on the other side whether develop an idea further or come up with similar ideas at the same time ...

The only thing I am sorry about and I feel bad with this week's shortlist is that the <a href="http://olp.spreadshirt.net/entries/2007/09/22/spreddy-shirtdawg/" rel="nofollow">spready shirtdawg</a> and <a href="http://olp.spreadshirt.net/entries/2007/09/24/superheroes-and-new-friend/" rel="nofollow">the superheroes</a> didn't make it on the shortlist :((
-> anyway: congratulations to all the others!

Well, thanks for some explanations.
All those you showed from OLP1 are heading into the same direction but are not using it as I did. The selected one now is definitely not different enough in my eyes to be something new, but since I did not copyright "shirt in a circle used to denote copyright" I gonna have to accept your decision anyway. It does not change my mood though, its probably really also how all this develops, with 20 people copying one idea of someone else and stuff.
Apparently thats the thing with these public contests and those taking part should accept it I guess.

To answer your previous question, this design is in this week purely because it got enough votes. I also remember your design getting at least one vote, but obviously not enough that week. Maybe it says a little something about the entries this week, or more likely that the people who like your design then, still like it, and see this is an improvement on it. The TM idea is re-used but the rest of the design has been changed (typo, colour, shirt itself, addition of a tag)

"accepted here and kinda okay if its different enough."
Yep, I think you've hit the nail on the head, because we publish everything publically its inevitable that you will explore themes and develop upon others idea. I can see why your annoyed, they are similar. Its very hard to say okay pascalphilly owns all shirt in a circle used to denote copyright. We'd run out of ideas very quickly, especially as many designs follow similar themes, this version combining a tag within the shirt something we've seen at least 50 times before. I had a quick browse through the OLP1 entries and found the following designs that also explore the same idea:

http://olp.spreadshirt.net/wordpress/2006/02/19/registered-t-shirt/
http://olp.spreadshirt.net/wordpress/2006/02/20/emblem-logo/
http://olp.spreadshirt.net/wordpress/2006/02/20/my-idea/
http://olp.spreadshirt.net/wordpress/2006/02/21/spradshirt-gelabelt/
http://olp.spreadshirt.net/wordpress/2006/02/21/spreadshirt-shirt/

And thats just a quick glance, I was working here for OLP1 so i'm not sure if there were anymore without hunting through all 200 pages.

Similarity to ARD? Where did we say thats why we didn't pick it? I don't remember ever even seeing the ARD logo until now when I just googled it, i'm sure that wasn't why we didn't pick it before, just that it didn't get enough votes.

Sorry you feel indignant, and I hope that as frustrating as it is, you can accept our decision to shortlist this as a significant enough redevelopment of an older concept.

Jebs: yeah I see it again and again and it makes me pretty sad. Taking an idea and adding something to it or changing it somehow is obviously accepted here and kinda okay if its different enough. I also did that with the "label"-element but I do not take someone else's idea and just fill one element and call it new. If nobody would pay attention to those copies it would be one thing, but picking the copy to the shortlist and giving it more attention than my original that was turned down makes me feel somewhat indignant right now.

congrats to everybody! it's still nice to know about those designs who almost did it...like last week, that's possible?

pascalphilly> i'm sorry for you, but honestly, viewing the designs from week1 to week4, that's obvious that a lot of persons take the ideas of previous logos from others...that's not nice, but the reality, we only can deal with it, trying to find new concepts ourselves ;-)

Congrats to everyone shortlisted!

Im a little confused - the second one ("icon revised") is my idea from round 2 -
http://olp.spreadshirt.net/entries/2007/09/05/copyrightstyle/
- that you did not pick since it had a similarity to ARD, now your picking this although the only change to mine is pretty much just filling the circle which makes it look even more like ARD?
