Ever wonder how we keep the spreadshirt masses up to date? On the whole they’re very interested in the project, but also busy with other tasks so we have some techniques to remind them. I’ve found the most effective tool is mass spamming them every 15mins with reminders to vote, comment and generally get involved and stay up to date. Some may have added me to their spam lists, so I and the rest of the OLP team have a few other tricks up our sleeve’s….

1. Internal Blog

Manuel posts every week when its time to vote for the shortlist, and then also when its time to vote again which should jump to the Grand Final.

You can see here the post revealing the shortlist for week 3, and asking for voting for which designs should make the grand final.

2. Poster Propaganda

Pete and Manuel created this super nice poster display series, one for HQ and one for our main production facility in a different area of Leipzig.

The stair on the left are the entrance to the office, on the right is the poster series, in front of reception.

Heres a closer shot, theres one poster for each week.

Here is the poster in more detail. Each poster has space for all the entries, the shortlist and then the finalists.

3. Stalking/Rudely interrupting

If there s a meeting going on, or an interesting conversation, I jump in with my OLP megaphone and say “BORING! Whats really interesting are all the great entries at the OLP, you should like, definetely check them out or you’re a loser, or something….”

4. OLP Monkey

The Spreadshirt monkey is on a full-time mission to bang the OLP drum, he hides out around the office and bashes people into taking part, sometimes even physically attacking those that show resistance. I’m not sure he’s good for project moral but he gets results. Here he is surprising reminding people trying to use the toilet that they should first check the OLP:

it actually worked really really good - we hit 4,500 visitors today! (I wonder how many of them were stalked at the toilet, though)
