Lets hope they play Bingo outside of the UK otherwise that will make no sense, or might be mis-interpreted as a request for duck logos this week. Neither the desired result, so lets move swiftly on………
Yesterday was a cracker. Really great start, 68 logos approved, would have been another 20 more if I’d preferred your designs company to my girlfriends last night, but we’ll clear any backlog today I promise. Heres the talking points from yesterday:
New Versions
Firstly we’ve already had two revisions from designs that made this weeks shortlist, or keep trying list. You people just can’t get enough, your dedication is very admirable and much appreciated. Heres the before and afters:
(left is the old version)
Dazzler has actually submitted two further revisions of Tagshirt, modified the tag, made it into a shirt attached to the “p”. Excellent comments so far on the new version such as “Definitly one of my favorites in the “simple but nice” section. Works really good with the different colors, and the tags attached to the p is just adorable.” from YourfriendBob. One of the bookies favourites for a shortlist place this week i’d say.
(new version on the right)
Alizarine added a dotted line to emphasise the label aspect, giving more emphasis to the “created by” in the process. All in all I think its has more visual impact now. What do you think?
New Submissions
No monkeys :( But a great start nonetheless, internally we’ve been really impressed with what came in yesterday, tons of great entries….here are some talkingpoints
More Label by id
- First to interpret tag is a non-price tag/label approach, this time using something close to military tags. Nice approach.

Visual Spreading by Oliver
Pushing the typography envelope with an excellent text only entries, still memorable despite its simplicity through the combination of white, blue, orange on black. But does it hit the brief? What do you think?
Also showing that you can do alot, with very little graphical elements and designs don’t have to hang around a shirt graphic.
Superthread by Quentindelachaux
- First superhero inspired entry. Not sure on the legal implications of using this one, but interesting idea combining the S into a shirt. If your going to save the world, Spreadshirt would make a fine choice of apparel, but how we warn you it probably wont help you look good in lycra.
- First combination of tag and shirt. Awesome approach to use block 3d style the front as the shirt, the shadow the label. Sort of fits with the behind every great shirt from spreadshirt is a greater label that you are all running - producing and marketing your designs.
What are your highlights from yesterday? Anything exceptional catch your eye?

wohoo. what a choice. i don’t get why you promote logos which are neither unique, well styled or even hit the briefing. i mean the first and the last might be ok, but they don’t make me scream. but the choices in the middle need some explanations. i mean to show me that there are logos which only use font or whatever is rediculous. i can see them by my own. is this really the direction spreadshirt want to turn in?
I’m also, with captain paranoid, quite surprised about the choice: I think that 1 or 2 of the “new” ones are even really bad designed. For the others, it is just a matter of tastes (personally, I found some other nice logos yesterday and thought that the overall quality was better than the first week…) but they are not bad indeed. For the new versions, I think that the label hanging from the “p” is quite nice.
well, I could imagine the author of this blogpost wanted to initiate a discussion about our yesterday’s favourites ;)
the typo-drafts are .. interesting, but I also think not really the way to go (which is okay since we should keep in mind the fun factor).
As for the submissions above I like the shadow draft altough it’s very hard to execute and use. And I’m still with the “created by” submission, but not 100% from the presented way .. but rather from the idea and the potential behind - spreadshirt as a frame for others people business. so instead of coining the logo all by ourself, maybe bringing up a frame as a logo is interesting to me .. if it leaves the partner the chance to fill it on his own, ie with his own logo or name or brand (but a lot of conceptual effort and hand-work I guess).
from the simplicity my favourite still is the draft from family. Now please tell me that there were some circles before in the history of design ;) so I can tell you that the concept and what you can use a logo for in context is more important to me (as a marketer) than desperately chasing for the most abstract most totally awesome unique (simple!) symbol. like someone said in the nike-swoosh post, it’s about what you make out of a logo, not what it is …
Well, talking about it, I’ll just point out the ones I liked most:
-
Very simple indeed but so fresh it stands out in its own way: Label Shirt by kreadid (maybe the two little “s” in the label should be deleted as they are too tiny)

Another easy but catchy one, I think that Spreadshirt TM by Family! would work well in quite any colour, would be perfect for a low-budget-nice-looking-sticker (this could always come out useful ) and can easily fit in quite any contest (and with a very little adjustment, it could also look like a label…)

Heartshapedbox #1 is an eye-candy logo, very nice, funny, bold and distinctive. Maybe the little bird has nothing to share with the company’s purposes, but it’s nice by the way :) (and now that I think about it, this is one of those cases in which you can’t use the logo without necessarily put also the claim…and this could be a wak point)

At last a logo that maybe would not work very well as a logo for some technical and perceptive reasons, but I found the idea so cute that I had to point it out: Your own face by simona (and it reminds me of some illustrated books I had when I was a child!)

So this is it. I don’t want to say that those logos should get into the shortlist of week2, but I found that my previous post was complaining wihout bringing anything to the discussion, and I don’t like doing such things…
“Talking points” - great design are always subjective. Instead I’m trying to show some interesting approaches if you don’t like them captain paranoid stop bashing and leave a comment with ones that you do like ;)
I posted a list of my favourites of the week with explanations, but it is currently “awaiting moderation” (maybe bacause there are links in it? ore because it is too long?)
Adam - sort of off topic but i had sent you a replacement .gif by email for the “additional variations” image that is on my above entry page because the current one looks distorted and blurry. But so far no response and nor replacement :(.I think i sent it to the olp[at]spreadshirt[dot]net address.
Would be great if you could check if you’ve received it and if so, replace the current one.
Thanks !
Frank
1. “great design are always subjective” = well somehow. but there are rules which differs a great design from the wanna bees. and i see way too many wanna bees, which are hyped without any reason.
2. i found no design which really made me scream. so i can’t post one, but there are some which have potentials. like some of them mootsie posted and some where i commented on.
Hey logodesigner, yep got it but it must have got buried. I’ll sort it out now ;)
updated: now done, sorry for delay…
any suggestions for the visual spreading logo? I didn’t really hear any criticisms.
I have to make another post as I found my absolute favouite one (except my last one, obviously :) )
Pen-shirt by Theoze is the kind of logo that makes you think, without any doubt “this just works!”

I know it is not really smart, publicizing someonelse’s entry, but what can I say? That Wacom Cintiq 21UX is really good too!
