Ladies and Gentlemen, let´s start the voting! (and read below)
I´m very excited to announce the OLP goes in a new week with the nomination of your entries: Let´s go for the voting! In the following days we will present different categories that we discussed intern and here. To keep the thrill (and, to be honest: to give us a little bit more time) we decided not to publish all entries and categories today. And we also will later announce how we split up the prizes. For the ones of you who asked: we decided to vote covertly but open without any restrictions.
Which means: we will have a close eye on the voting - and we do the great release for all prizes and winners after the voting ends on Monday 13th of march.
If you haven´t been nominated at all, don´t be afraid. Some of you gave us really cool input, so I guess we have some prizes for anyone who contributed to the OLP. But more after the vote.
Here come the first categories:
1. Best Colorscheme / Color me good award
This award goes out to the designers who really rocked the screen and amazed us by a set of fancy fresh colors.
2. Best Presentation / Style award
We picked the most interesting and stylish presentations for your vote. Please note: this award really deals with the “surface”. So please take a look for the best design presentation without focussing too much on the logo or the concept. We will do that later ..
And now: here is your easy link to the Voting!

are you shure?
you recognized the voting chaos last week?
or do you have a masterplan to avoid cheating?
we did. and we discussed it. but every voting in the internet can be manipulated. so the better possibility is to keep a very close eye on it. if it fails or people start to cheat we will have to think it over.
wow, there are entries i didnt know … coooooool … but this was easy … cause there were only one in each category with potential imho … but i wont tell, which one i voted, so … it could be really interesting next weeks …
@dan bang:
i think this time voting could be more save, cause the results arent posted after voting. so, noone knows about the actual ranking in here. this will, i think, be a step in the right direction.
I totally agree with spreadstyle.
hi, so are there any official rules for this voting? How many votes does one person have? Can one vote for their own design?
you’re very optimistic!
if i would be one of the nominees, i would cheat!
why not?
and even if youre somehow able to keep eye on something like the ip adress, i could create a little chaos by vote a hundred times for whatever…
i allways thought that a spreadshirt jury would pic out the winners, but now its just a question of how many friends i have (in the best case).
i would think over it again.
for me, the whole contest is loosing its seriousity.
stylefreak: you have one vote. vote for the ones you like most.
dan bang: we really discussed the issue more than any other. the other possibility would be only to let vote registered users. BUT: there are a lot of (important) people who aren´t registered at the OLP, even of our employees. so we decided to have a very close look who voted and so on (it´s good to have a “transatlantic” company if someone thinks he can trick us in the night).
but one much more important thing: doing everything with maximum of control wouldn´t have led to the OLP. i don´t see a “seriousity” issue her. but i find it very sad that someone states “i would cheat if i was nominated”. i am wondering if you don´t see what we are doing here: we want to involve you guys. and not just pick the ones *we* like. we´re open. and this is what i expected from the contributers in the OLP as well. be open, play fair and be honest. if someone wants to trick he will get nothing in the end. maybe i´m naive but this is my kind of attitude.
Hi,
Nice to see the first nominees!! I just could find one in each category that I could consider worth a vote. But of course that, in this point of the contest, It is all a question of taste (Even if I was chocked to see that bad submissions as nominees).
Now I want to say something about the vote system:
The vote system will be always full of controversies. If someone is very active in the internet communities (such as forums, newsgroups, blogs and so on….) this person can ask all of its contacts to come to vote for him. The vote would, therefore, be totally legal with every vote coming from a different computer. But the result would not represent the reality.
The most impartial decision would come with a jury vote (of course that logos that would be chosen by this jury, should not be from any person that has a relation with the spreadshirt team).
The Jury should have people that represents spreadshirt and some guests that would play a most independent role. Those guests could be spreadshirt partners or someone with a important experience in the design field (Europe or US).
Otherwise if you still keep with a public vote system, you should at least demand an inscription with an e-mail confirmation and validation of it, before have access to the voting area. No proxy server connexions in the voting page. Like this you could be sure that at least the ones who voted are really interested in doing so. It would be a good beginning.
Best regards and good luck to every nominee.
(sorry for my bad English!!:))
Braz.
definitely right. but i personally do have about 5 email addresses. and unlimited if i really wanted to cheat.
so once more: we do have a very close look who voted by IP addresses, referrers and timestamp.
also see my post above.
if there is a voting, there will be some problems for some persons ever.
i believe, that spreadshirt will make it for all as fair as they could …
they will give us just 5 drafts to vote on. and spreadshirt even know aboput the cheating thing during the olp … so, i think they’ll do the right think. we’ll see if there are real people in here or just these nappos who can only think about money and prices. just win win win … i cant stand it. shure, i would love to win, but if my design is ugly and i cheated me to win, i cant look in a mirror again, so. for me, this olp helped a lot to improve my “skills” in design. and for me the greatest would be to be nominated in one category. i never would to think about cheating in this situation and i believe most of us in here wont either, cause we all see, what we have done.
lets stay fair … one vote per person who participated in this olp longer than one day.
“i would cheat” means,
that there will allways be a cheater. sad but reallity (@spreadstyle)! and this time it’s about winning and money, so just a 100 reasons more to cheat. my opinion….
and braz is absolutely right:
i don’t have to cheat. i just have to ask all my friends to vote for me.
and this is the point.
maybe spreadshirt just needs a little more publicity. and a open voting is the best way to get people (friends!) on this site. if this is the reason for the voting system, i totally understand!
honestly! and i will never complain again.
but if you want fairness and a objective view on the entries, an independent jury (braz!) is without an alternatve.
I sure hope you will choose the best entries to be nominees in more than one category… Now it looks like (IMHO) there are nominees in the first category that would be better contenders in the second – and vice versa.
