jebs-preview10b.jpg

Added:

-A new main logo. It has now a different composition, the walking man is in the middle, and wears different colors.

-New features (such as a street advertising), new variations…

so the explanations (i write them in the comments anyway:

The 3 colored curves represent “the Tee Shirt Itself”, it’s of course abstract, it’s your fingerprint. This abstraction is also a symbolic of customization. I wanted to speak about continuity in SPreadshirt firm, and politics, i mean, keeping a bit of the previous logo for me can be a trong mark of continuity and coherence. But, it’s also a question of changes: The logo has now vivid colors, the curves colored symbolize the fact that you (the man walking) carry, you wear, you are your own label, it’s a bit aerial for dynamism, movements, changes, customization. I wanted to represent a man also because we are talking about that, man energy, creativity, it’s a story of people who put together their qualities to make something good, a good product…

    Wow, I love it !
One of best designs of these 6 weeks. Simple and recognizable immediately !
For the contest, I think “spread” must be more bold than “shirt”, but it’s a detail :-)

    Thank you zycon and Laurent!
Laurent> i’m really pleased that you liked it, as i love what you did in the contest!
So i tried to put emphasis on Spread, but i don’t like the result in this logo…so i will right now leave it as it is…hoping to have other comments too :-)

    hello

nice concept and nice typo it make me think of woolmark brand lol

    hum completely different i’m joking

  5. 5 by marakas | Oct 2nd, 2007 at 2:00 pm

can you explain the concept i mean it’s about print but what are the ideas thanks .

  6. 6 by Jebs | Oct 2nd, 2007 at 2:11 pm

ok marakas, i chosed not to explain in my last 2-3 logos, i was not sure that it was useful (the logo must speak itself) but i make an exception :-)
SO, first, i wanted to speak about continuity in SPreadshirt firm, and politics, i mean, keeping a bit of the previous logo for me can be a trong mark of continuity and coherence ;-)
But, it’s also a question of changes: The logo has now colors, the classical CYMK used in color printing, the curves colored symbolize the fact that you (the man walking) carry, you wear, you are your own label, it’s a bit aerial for dynamism, movements, changes, customization: you can even see it as an official sash weared by the man :-)
I wanted to represent a man also because we are talking about that, man energy, creativity, it’s a story of people who put together theiir qualities to make something good, a good product…

i could speak for hours now looool, well enough said!!!!

PS: you can also see the 3 dots of colors CYM that emphases the concept, and put a recognizable label .

  7. 7 by marakas | Oct 2nd, 2007 at 2:24 pm

ok i understand your concept better - good nice work

  8. 8 by nookyalur | Oct 2nd, 2007 at 2:44 pm

Small remark: t-shirts are mostly printed with (spot)colors ink and not in CMYK (unless you use digital printing!). CMYK is used in offset or flexo printing. The screenprinting method is completely different…

    Anyway, nice examples.

thanks for your feedback! i’m enjoying it greatly as it’s the first logo (among my other subs) that has so many comments :-)

    marakas> ;-)

Nookyalur> yep i agree with you, Lafraise for example (of spreadshirt) prints with spot colors, Pantones Coated; but you can see that spreadshirt offers also the possibility for people to print the designs in offset or flexo, so the CMYK is still a choice of colors that fits the contest in my opinion (and it’s in general something that appeal the print section, that is the most important thing i guess) but thank you, that’s interesting to speak about ;-)

to make a synthetic analyze of my concept: the 3 colored curves represent “the Tee Shirt Itself”, it’s of course abstract, it’s your fingerprint. This abstarction is also a symbolic of customization :-) ok, enough said again!

I like it too. IHMO doesn´t need any “legs”. It should be an evolution of actual brand but easier (and recognizable) to implement on diferent media than current one.

hello i like your concept thanks to comment mine

  13. 13 by Jebs | Oct 4th, 2007 at 11:28 am

thank you adam for the pretty fast update!

@ grafismo: if i leave the legs, my whole concept wouldn’t work anymore…at the contrary, i added some features, with different use, and with a woman, and kids logos, which could be variations depending on the context :-)

  14. 14 by Trium | Oct 4th, 2007 at 4:03 pm

This is a nice idea. Leaving impression with your shirt and stuff, i like that. What I do not like is the cmyk-thing (I think someone mentioned it not really fitting) and - in my opinion - the legs look funny somehow. I dont know, it does not appear to me as a logo for a big company somehow.

  15. 15 by Jebs | Oct 4th, 2007 at 4:12 pm

    thanks trium! interesting thoughts!
About CMYK stuff, i think it’s not a real problem if somehow, this logo is appreciated by a lot of people, i can always change the colors, putting for example orange instead of yellow, or other colors combinations. About the legs, we’ll see in the next days, but it doesn’t bother me obviously, i think it works pretty well with the rest, with harmony. I’ll think about it.

  16. 16 by grafismo | Oct 4th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

Hi! understand you Jebs, if you remove “legs” maybe full logo it’s not so memorable and maybe it is missed up part of the initial concept; but at first view I like your trademark, it doesn´t need take more elements as “legs” . It works with the “fingerptrints” or “waves” metaphore. The organic 3 coloured waves (S shapes) are right now really in evolution; so as a trademark would work better than actual SS brand. I mean, they are visually “surfing”. When you add them “straight lined human legs” against curved shapes it reminds me as if they would be wearing any sort of scarfes instead of shirts. The head or label hole above them it should be enough.

  17. 17 by Jebs | Oct 4th, 2007 at 5:03 pm

thanks grafismo, i appreciate a lot the time you took to give arguments!

i don’t really agree with you in a way, but i will do an alternative submission tonight without the legs (without removing this one that i like a lot ^^ ) :-)

  18. 18 by pmd | Oct 5th, 2007 at 1:18 am

I like your idea a lot… I think all the feedback on it will help you to take this pretty far.

I wanted to put a word about the use of CMYK colors but I’ve just read it has already been largely discussed. I was just wondering if for people in general these colors evoke the print process, or is this just an “insider” or professional view ? Anyway as you said this can be easily changed !

The idea of movement / change / “leaving a trace” is not so common in the contest and it really makes your logo interesting. The legs are fine for me. If you leave them I’m afraid your man is gonna drown in the logo of a public swimming pool :) .

By the way, nice integration on the window.

  19. 19 by Jebs | Oct 5th, 2007 at 10:51 am

    @pmd: THANKS!
about CMYK, we should also don’t lose in mind that these are the primary color of the substractive model, and a lot of people understand the color model as a power of color creation…don’t they? anyway, yes, in 2 seconds, they can be changed eheheh

about the legs :-) so, i really agree with you, but making a different and independant logo without legs doesn’t cost me much ^^

  20. 20 by JDELPHIN | Oct 5th, 2007 at 1:53 pm

I really like your concept. Just a point that cames to my mind looking at the global aspect of the logo. I think the drawing of CMYK lines gives a female look to the walking man. What about giving the walking man bolder lines that would maybe change this first look appearance?

  21. 21 by Jebs | Oct 5th, 2007 at 2:15 pm

@ JDELPHIN: thank you for commenting it and appreciating it. In fact, my walking man is classy and delicate, that’es parhaps why you could see also female look…but in a way, your comment is pretty positive, because the gender is not important at all, that’s just speaking about human being :-)
