I really like this concept, so much deeper then alot of them, simple bold and has unlimited options.
    Modern too.

    well done laurent.

    >Lufograf said “you are really one of the best designer of this competition”

    Je n’ai qu’un mot : Respect !

Great Laurent! I like it a lot !

laurent - you are killing me! criticising our picks of the shortlist .. and just a couple of hours pushing back with THIS reaction. from the shape close to label cuthole, but the concept behind your entry I think is just great, unbelievable .. really!

  12. 12 by Japasa | Oct 9th, 2007 at 7:46 pm

hehe I can understand you well that you threw in the towel. I know this feeling. :) I think that throwing in the towel is no solution because I know that I always smell creativity of you and others. one needs courage for its creativity as other good designers. it is really hard…. puh!
I want that everybody should tap the full potential. :) Well done, Laurent!

I love your graphic work but I’m not sure how it fulfills the goals set out in the designers brief. If potential customers saw this design would it help them to understand the company? They don’t have the benefit of the background information that we have here. “O” for “own” as in “o” for “overstock.com” perhaps but it doesn’t do anything more for explaining the product than the words do by themselves.

First of all, this is a really innovative way to use a logotype. The way you keep the shape so simple that it can be recognized although it’s executed in many different ways. Very well executed. Credds to you Laurent :) But I also feel that this is a thought that has been left out of the competition and that It is a really interesting subject to discuss.

We’ve seen many creative and flexible solutions in this competition but this takes the price. I can feel that this intense way of “massproducing” ideas makes the entrys more and more complex in it’s concepts. The crowd here is just a small part of the mass that will meet up with it in the end. And for us, that have attended this competition and have tried out every single form of a t-shirt (for example) are pushing the boundaries. My point is that we can’t forget what the end-user will experience. So, apart from this great execution, how will an end-user interpret a round circle?

Again, great work Laurent. This is NOT to make myself look better. I’ve been thinking for a while at this very subject. Feels good to have it out there :) Good Luck and Peace!

i like it. i dont want to, but i do. a part of me think youre crazy putting out a fat circle as a shirt company logo. the other part says its perfectly simple and dynamic. also, reffering to the underground signs is genious. the underground is the platform for showing of your shirts, and the shirt is kind of a underground sign itself. this one will make strong reactions.

  16. 16 by Pascalphilly | Oct 10th, 2007 at 6:16 am

Honestly I over-scrolled this one because I did not find it that recognizable and remarkable ;)

But Laurent, I have to say, you got really great ideas and this one is way better than “label cut hole” since its more of a story behind it.
Unfortunately I am the opinion that people will not really remember it because it is just two circles , furthermore as many criticized on my “invitation” and for “label cut hole” this is nice for print but will probably get lost in online usage.
Nevertheless, great motivation and ideas for this exhausting last week, congrats mate!

    > Lufograf : merci bien, c’est sympa ça :-)

    > ami : thanks a lot ! I’ve begun this logo 3 weeks ago. And I don’t like
to remain of bad mood ;-)

    > kimlarsen : very interesting comment. I’m agree with you : don’t forget user-end !!!

    > jonasbmf : yes ! shirts are signs too.

    > Pascalphilly : ok. I don’t want people remember the logo but the very different uses of it. My goal is to make an “alive symbol”, never the same according to surface where it is printed.

    > all : thanks a lot for your comments. I will have agreed more to discuss with you, but my english level do not allow it to me. Thus I prefer to express myself while drawing ; -)

    Thanks again !

  19. 19 by Trium | Oct 11th, 2007 at 5:26 am

This is fun! The idea is great, I only see problems in the flat logo as presented here, maybe you still find other ways that it also works online as it would work otherwise, nice job!

Nice thing if Spreadshirt would do a huge campaign and guirilla marketing like nike or whatever but for web use and I think how Spreadshirt will use it it will dissapear as just a circle. But you did a great job with alot of effort, well done.

  28. 28 by clvictor | Oct 19th, 2007 at 4:24 am

The simplicity of the logo, is the strengh that portraits.

Why is it a circle ?

Like, what does the circle specifically say about what spreadshirt does or is ?
