street art small

the Logo:

There is no single logo.
There is only the universal concept of reclaiming the labels of the street
(the street signs)

the Formula:
TAKE ANY OFFICAL SIGN ADD A SHIRT AND A TAIL !
that’s all.

Why it works just great:

- Adding a shirt lifts those soulless stickfigures out of their shadowy existence
- The tail, a simple line, adds emotion and personality! a long tail is extremely
expressive, as Franquin has demonstrated with the Marsupilami, one of the most loveable
cartoon animals alive!
- These cat-like figures are extremly recognizable
- Modified street signs as a label give you that little anarchic touch, but with a creative and likeable twist.

MANIFESTO:

Spread-shirt is like street art, but even more so.

The shirt-space is the very space we live in - we used to design it ourselves, but industrial revolution has taken it away from us. May spreadshirt help us to can claim it back again!

In the 1970s the graffiti scene became popular in New York, when urban kids realized, they could design and tag their own environment, even though they didn’t literally own it …

As early as 1958, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an Austrian artist called for the “Fensterrecht”, the right to design the space within the reach of your window. But many people still live in mass-housing, being denied the right to design the exterior of their own home.

In 2007 spreadshirt coined the slogan “your own label” to promote the idea, that every one should be free to design their own fashion label.

The revolution failed in 1958 and it failed in the 1970s because those who owned the environment were too powerful.
But this time it is different: we own the shirts and no one can stop us from making our own label,
spreading our own message, tagging our own chest and wearing the tags of those we love and respect!

May the Shirt be with us!
