Labelheads final update (more usage examples)

The Basics

The Labelheads are hip and fun characters representing the spirit of Spreadshirt and its customers.

The simple designs covers the basics:it depicts shirts and represents the nature of the business, and also supports the tagline your own label by incorporating the label into it; they after all Labelheads.

Core Values

1) The simplicity of the design relates to the ease of use of Spreadshirt

 2) The details in different shirts, as well as the typemark convey Spreadshirt’s commitment to attention and quality

 3) Different characters each with their own unique style show the individuality and uniqueness associated with Spreadshirt.

But the design also goes beyond that.

Variety: By having a large variety of shirts to choose from (tees, hoodies, polos, tops) it clearly conveys the variety that Spreadshirt offers.

Community: By having multiple Labelheads, the logos shows the community nature of Spreadshirt and reiterates the fact that at Spreadshirt, making t-shirts is a team effort.

Versatility: Having so many characters to choose from adds a lot of versatility and makes this suitable for targetted ad campaigns (for example, during the winter Labelheads wearing sweaters can be used). Furthermore, the design is adaptable to special occasions such as Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, or Talk Like a Pirate Day ;)

Humor: While the typeface is serious and conveys a feeling of professionalism and reliability, the Labelheads themselves present the fun side of Spreadshirt, representing humor which is prevalent within the spreadshirt team.

Customization: The concept can be used to let the users customize their own labelheads, just as they customize their own apparel, enabling a total integration of the logo with the community.

So What’s New? In recent updates, I added a lot more garment styles, putting the emphasis where it belongs: the shirts. I also suggest ways for separating Spread and Shirt. An obvious way is to use Bold and Regular types, but more sublte ways have also been shown. I also spiced up the “Naked Labelhead” idea. There are now more usage samples including public ads and patterns. Last but not least, there’s a new version of Labelheads creator with added functionality :) enjoy.

This one is really fun! I like the different hair styles, and how they’re all in one line :)

I like this idea… I wonder if you could use the same concept and show the diversity of apparel that we offer… For example, hoodies, a cap, maybe even a satchel???

This is my new favorite. I think this would look awesome on a shirt. Plus it looks great in multi color on single color. It is fun and young just like the company.

Sure, i’m developing it as we speak, already created 12 more hairstyles (!) and will include your suggestion of doing different apparel.

alright, here’s the developed version with tons more labelheads to choose from, along with some in depth explanation (i’ve already asked for this entry to be modified by submitting the new details, but i’m posting this in the comment section for now since I know that might take a while).

The “Labelheads” are characters representing the spirit of Spreadshirt. They are hip and fun and come from all walks of life.

The design covers the basics : it depicts “shirts” and represents the nature of the business, and also supports the tagline “your own label” by incorporating the “label” into it; they after all “Labelheads”.

It also covers the 3 core values: 1)The simplicity of the design relates to the ease of use of Spreadshirt 2)the little details in different shirts convey Spreadshirt’s commitment to attention and quality 3) different characters each with their own unique style show the individuality and uniqueness associated with Spreadshirt.

    But it goes beyond that.

By showing a variety of shirts (tees, hoodies, polos, tops) it clearly conveys the variety that Spreadshirt offers.

By having multiple Labelheads, the logoshows the ‘team-spirit’ of Spreadshirt and reiterates the fact that at Spreadshirt, making t-shirts is a team effort.

Having so many characters to choose from adds a lot of versatility and makes this suitable for targetted ad campaigns (for example, during the winter Labelheads wearing sweaters can be used).

Finally, the design is fun and has a lot of sense of humor to it, something that I have noticed to be a big part of Spreadshirt.

kennnnnnnnnnnnnnyyyyyy!! umm, sorry for that. I’m not even a big fan of southpark .. it just came over me when I saw the hoodie dude :D

great work, there is really a lot potential in this concept - it’s unique and feels like spreadshirt … glad you made the shortlist!!

I think I broke the page with my comment. If only I could edit it and remove the line with the URL to the image … :S
but thanks for your comment ami, glad you like it. I thought of Kenny when I was making the hoodie :) I guess you can’t see a minimalistic guy in a hoodie without thinking about SP … just says about how strongly SP has influenced pop culture I guess …

Hey dude, I like this stuff, it looks realy like fun, especially the variety of haircuts and kenny.
There is just a problem to dicover the tag under all these haircuts, I think it only works when you see the plane tag somewhere.

  9. 9 by legofish | Sep 18th, 2007 at 6:23 am

Thanks pascal. Sure, a plain tag (or a bald labelhead) would more clearly show the label and that’s why I included a plain one in the original submission. Still I think for a lot of the other labelheads the label is more or less clear. In any case a little subtlety might not be such a bad thing ;)

    Hey Lego:

Interesting concept and nice execution. Im not sure that it works entirely, though, since I find my eye being drawn much more to the hairstyle than the shirt. I think it is whimsical and entertaining, but the focal point of the company might be lost in the process. Maybe you could emphasize the shirts more somehow. Good work overall.

Well done! This logo is young and fresh, mostly for young people! I like it with different shirts and faces. ;)

A rehash of the ebay logo anyone? I have seen very similar versions of this logo elsewhere.

Do not get me wrong, I love it, but im afraid when i see any form of your logo the first thing i think of is to go buy stuff from ebay and not from spreadshirt…

A very well thought out concept, this has all the hallmarks of a strong brand.Well done!

  19. 19 by legofish | Sep 29th, 2007 at 10:11 pm

woops, the flash on the main entry looks broken in Firefox, I think like last time if you put a < .div> around the < .object> tag it should fix it. Or you can ‘view source’ and take the code from 3 coments ago … sorry for the hassle

This is the cutest thing ever! wow… I love the label creator flash game thing you’ve put on there. XD That’s so cute! I’m obsessed, sorry. But that is just to I don’t know just so amazing. Good job, your effort shows through.

  24. 24 by tli | Oct 3rd, 2007 at 10:59 pm

just plain cool. i like the idea. this is what i call individual :) rocks!

  25. 25 by Joel | Oct 5th, 2007 at 5:35 pm

This is fun stuff indeed. As for a real brand logo it seems a little cheesy though (in my opinion).

  26. 26 by ram | Oct 5th, 2007 at 9:42 pm

keep up the good work going…u have really done a great job…this is the best design i have seen so far…advance congratulations…

  27. 27 by elmaic | Oct 5th, 2007 at 10:38 pm

the best concept! i like the single labelhead variations (it makes it easier to see the shirt, less colors to use and you read spreadshirt), also you’ll never know who will show up! There’s something on the type i don’t like it a lot… hard to tell. Focus on ’spreadshirt’, labelheads are perfect!

  28. 28 by jeffersonb | Oct 7th, 2007 at 11:04 am

I don’t know if it’s the shape of the tag or the small hole/mouth but they all somehow look asian to me ;)

This might be too playful for an actual logo but i had fun playing the flash game.

  29. 29 by Trium | Oct 11th, 2007 at 5:18 am

Yeah all those having too much fun with the flash game (which is fun actually) should not forget what a logo should achieve and I think this is a little too childish for a big brand, just my opinion. Great work though!

I’ve been doing a lot of research and some design sketching for logo development in my own company. I was going to enter this competition, but didn’t have time :-). Anyway, after seeing all the finalists, Labelheads is by far the best. The thematic ties with the brand, the style, the fun of it, and especially the adaptability and interactivity really set this apart from the rest. I will be greatly disappointed if spreadshirt does not select this as their new logo. Best of luck.

This is by far a really thought thru logo, I must say the more I see it the more I get the connection with spreadshirts consept..Good job ! my vote goes 2 your logo.

Good luck, I hope this is the one that gets picked, allthough there is alot of good design in this competition!

Bigups for spreadshirt people for giving us this wonderful opportunity…
